1.3 VISION + GOALS On June 13, 2024, we shared the draft Vision and Goals for M1M. Throughout the first round of public meetings and discussions within our Technical and Community Advisory Committees, input was collected on these guiding principles. This section outlines public and stakeholder feedback on the vision and goals, and how community input shaped the final language. Approach As homework following the committee meetings, the project team asked members the following questions:
• Is there anything missing from the vision? • Are there goals you would like to see added? • Please share any additional thoughts or suggestions for the M1M vision and goals.
Feedback from the committee members determined that M1M should prioritize safety and preservation of the current transportation system. Additionally, alternative modes of transportation should be expanded, enhancing accessibility, inclusivity, connectivity, and travel choice. This recommendation was also supported by feedback from our open houses. The analysis of the feedback provided an opportunity to update the vision and goals, and incorporate the input to better reflect the community’s thoughts and concerns. Six themes were identified based on the number of times the ideas and concepts were mentioned and the detailed nature of the comments provided. While some of these themes are adequately reflected in the draft vision and goals, some warranted further refinement.
