3.5 Transit Gap Analysis 3.5.1 Data Sources and Assumptions
The analysis draws on multiple data sources to evaluate transit coverage and performance. Key datasets include National Transit Database reports, population and employment census data, TSI scores, and the Trinity Metro routes and service area. Assumptions made to standardize service definitions and thresholds for identifying gaps will be identified in detail below. 3.5.2 Identified Gaps Spatial and temporal transit gaps, including gaps in network connectivity and accessibility to key destinations were identified by analyzing existing service coverage, headways, and connectivity across the network. This step served as a tool to determine where populations and destinations are not adequately served by fixed-route transit on the Trinity Metro network. 3.5.2.1 Coverage Gaps Coverage gaps were defined as areas in the study region that lack general access to public transit services. These gaps are locations where no fixed-route service operates within a reasonable walking distance, which was set at 0.25 mile. Using Geographic Information System (GIS)-based buffer analysis, neighborhoods, corridors, and activity centers were identified that fall entirely outside the existing transit catchment area. This spatial analysis highlighted key zones across Fort Worth that are underserved or entirely unserved by transit, highlighting opportunities for service interventions to improve access. Figure 16 : below highlights transit coverage gaps, shown using blue polygons, that were identified across the Fort Worth region, where fixed-route service is limited or absent. A total of eight distinct coverage gaps were identified: • Saginaw Gap • Keller Gap and Park Vista Boulevard Gap • Grapevine Highway Gap • Chisholm Retail Gap • Benbrook Gap, White Settlement Gap, and Westworth Village
