Master Transportation Plan Task 4: Gap Analysis and Needs Network

• Bedford + Euless Gap • University of Texas at Arlington (UTA)/Arlington Gap • Mansfield Gap

Many of these gaps are located along major highway throughfares, providing an opportunity for connection to Forth Worth. Weatherford, Willow Park, and Aledo Gaps are located along the I-20 corridor west of Fort Worth and are seeing ongoing residential development. The Mansfield Gap in the southeast region highlights a high-growth and car-dependent suburb with emerging employment and retail centers. UTA/Arlington Gap includes one of the region’s largest universities and highlights an area with significant residential and commercial density, and opportunity for collaborative innovation. The Bedford + Euless Gap represents two northeastern communities located along SH 183 and SH 121 near DFW Airport. Given their strategic location between Fort Worth and Dallas, and their proximity to major employment centers, they are prime candidates for improvements in regional service coverage. The identified outlying regional gaps are strategically located along major highways and key destinations like DFW Airport and UTA Arlington. These locations play a significant role in Fort Worth’s regional connectivity for future transit expansion to improve inter-city mobility and access to employment and education. 3.5.2.2 Temporal Gaps Temporal gaps were identified as service limitations or gaps tied to frequency, span, and availability during non-peak periods. Using route schedules, we identified routes operating with headways of 60 minutes or longer, limited or no weekend service, and minimal evening or early morning coverage. These routes were identified as gaps because they limited the use of transit, especially for members of the community who are transit dependent or have travel needs outside traditional community hours.
