Highlights of the Loire Valley Set sail on a paddle steamer and admire the River Loire’s splendid scenery as we cruise. On the banks of the gently winding
Bordeaux, Dordogne & Atlantic Coast Discover elegant Bordeaux, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on this idyllic cruise. We explore the surrounding wine-growing area, home to some of the world’s most renowned wines, and soak up the glorious Atlantic coastal scenery. ITINERARY Day 1 Embark in Bordeaux - Cussac-Fort-Médoc We arrive in Bordeaux & board our ship at 18.00, before cruising to Cussac-Fort-Médoc. Day 2 Cussac-Fort-Médoc - Royan We can tour the famous Médoc vineyards today, home to red wines such as Saint-Julien and Haut-Médoc and wine estates including Châteaux Lafite Rothschild, Latour and Mouton Rothschild. Day 3 Royan We may wish to visit Rochefort to see the Corderie Royale rope-making factory built in 1666, and La Rochelle for a guided tour. Day 4 Libourne/Bourg - Bordeaux Today offers a guided tour of Saint-Émilion, including its underground monuments and Monolithic Church, followed by a visit to a local vineyard. Day 5 Bordeaux - Cadillac Today’s optional excursions include the Château de Roquetaillade, a tasting of Sauternes wine at a wine cellar and a guided tour of Cadillac. Tonight is our gala evening. Day 6 Bordeaux Our optional guided tour of Bordeaux takes us to the Chartrons district, where wine merchants performed their trade. We visit the Wine and Commerce Museum and enjoy a wine tasting. Alternatively, there is an optional excursion to Arcachon this morning. Day 7 Disembark in Bordeaux After breakfast, we disembark at 09.00 and make our way home. Day 5 Bouchemaine/Chalonnes-sur-Loire - Ancenis Today’s Châteaux of the Loire Valley Tour is included. We discover the Château d’Azay-le-Rideau, the Château de Villandry gardens and the Château d’Ussé. Back on board, we enjoy tonight’s gala evening and sail towards Nantes.
