Anti-inflammation Treatments and Arthritis. The leading form of arthritis treatment is the use of anti-inflammatory medication. Different medications are used for the different types of arthritis (Osteo-arthritis, Rheumatoid-arthritis and arthritis related to colitis and psoriasis). Physical Therapy and Arthritis. Physical therapy is a highly recommended formof treatment for any type of arthritis because it can strengthen and support the joints through guided practice of movement and strength building exercises. Typically, the best activities for arthritis pain are low-impact activities. Working with a physical therapist is the best way to ensure that you are practicing the best techniques for overcoming your discomfort. In addition there is a long list of home remedies that are helpful with arthritis pain as well, that have proven effective. For example, losing weight, exercising regularly, and making some dietary changes such as reducing caffeine and sugar consumption are helpful to alleviate pain associated with arthritis. However, before you start making any changes to your lifestyle, it is best to consult with your doctor and / or your physical therapist. At FYZICAL we have answers ready for all these questions. For more information about how to rid your life of arthritis pain, contact us.

Osteo-arthritis is the most common chronic condition to affect the joints. Almost 30 million adults in the United States struggle with the condition. While it can influence anyone of any age, it most frequently develops with age and therefore those over the age of 65 present most commonly with it. Joint overuse also commonly leads to osteo-arthritis due to movement repetition and is frequently seen in those performing manual labor. Any form of arthritis occurs when there is a breakdown of the cartilage that covers the ends of the bones. This cartilage is what allows all of your joints to move with ease and freedom. Without cartilage or with damaged cartilage, the bones rub against one another with movement, causing pain ranging from a persistent ache to severe stabbing pain. As the cartilage breaks down, so, typically, does the bone, and as the shape of the joint changes it becomes even more difficult for it to function smoothly. Furthermore, the ligaments and tendons around the joint will often stiffen, and the muscles surrounding the joint will weaken, making it altogether more difficult and painful to move. While arthritis pain typically develops gradually, the realization of what you are dealing with can still come as a shock. In some circumstances the pain will appear more abruptly, especially when the pain develops in association with a change in weather or other environmental circumstance. Overcoming Arthritis Pain. Turning to over the counter pain medications to cope with arthritis pain is ineffective as a long-term solution. While some of the medications may provide relief, they will not help you overcome the pain for any long duration periods. Physical therapy, on the other hand, can provide actual relief from arthritis by helping to rebuildmobility and strength in the joints through targeted movements and flexibility exercises. There is a lot of research ongoing trying to understand what precisely causes arthritis to develop in some people, and not in others. Everyone uses their joints every day, and while it

Dear friends,

The Department of Homeland Security have deemed Physical Therapy to be an essential component of health care during the Corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic. Therefore our centers remain open to serve those in need and we are taking extensive preventative measures, guided by the CDC, to protect our patients and employees. We hope that by providing this information, you can, if needed, make a clear decision to continue or start your care with us. For all of our safety we have the following protocols in place: • Patient screening upon entry of facility: Temperature, general well- being, facemask and hand sanitation. • Daily Staff screening: All employees are screened for COVID-19 daily and wear a facemask at all times. • Health hygiene protocols: Hand washing before and after each patient interaction and other preventative cleaning measures for equipment and supplies are in place and being reinforced. • Social distancing: Although you will have direct interaction with your therapist you will be at a safe distance from other patients in our facility. • Family and friends are asked to wait in the car, not in the waiting room. That said, if anyone is not comfortable coming to our center for care during this time, we will gladly reschedule your appointment for a later date, or alternatively our locations are now offering Telehealth Physical Therapy. Please reach out to us with any question. #FYZICALSTRONG

At FYZICAL, our telehealth services offer live consultationwhere you canmeet and chat with your physical therapist about your treatment plan and exercises. Additionally, through our PT Wired app, you can view the exercises and stretches that you are expected to complete each day and log your advancement through your treatment plan. You can also use this app to access ongoing helpful tools and at any time of the day you can message one of our physical therapists to ask questions or get advice about your condition or plan-of-care. We understand that we are in the midst of stressful times, and that there will likely bemore ahead. At FYZICAL, we want you to know that we are here for you, always, to the best of our abilities. I would not be able to move and get around the way I do without them! “I am very impressed with FYZICAL Therapy and Balance Centers. The facility is open, bright and clean with state of the art technology. It is amazing to see all the equipment they have available to make people with all kinds of issues feel and move better. My doctor is spot-on in referring me here, now several times for different body-part injuries. The staff, from the front desk to the therapists, is warm and professional and all make certain that I feel cared for from the moment I step through the door to when I leave the facility. Frank is my Physical Therapist, and his knowledge and training are amazing, always knowing exactly what to do to make me feel better and move forward to getting better overal. I know I would not be able to move and get around the way I do without them. I highly recommend FYZICAL! ” - P.J. 6 7 4 2 8 7 7 5 6 3 5 8 7 6 5 5 6 9 2 1 9 6
