URARSTVO I zdelovanje ur je izrazito meščanska panoga uporabne umetnosti in na Slovenskem tej plemeniti, cenjeni in predvsem funkcionalni stroki, ki je v zgodovini umetne obrti zavzemala posebno mesto, se je tekom let pripisovalo zelo velik pomen. Urarji niso bili le obrtniki, ki so popravljali stare ure, vendar v veliki meri mojstri, ki so izdelali prenekatero uro, ki še vedno krasi javne ustanove in domove premožnih meščanov.
WATCHMAKING / CLOCK-MAKING W atchmaking or clock-making is a particularly bourgeois branch of applied arts. In Slovenia this noble, appreciated and above all functional area of expertise has during the course of history of crafts occupied a special place and at the same time it has throughout the years been attributed great importance. Watchmakers or clockmakers were not merely craftsmen who repaired all clocks and watches, but prevalently masters of crafts who constructed a great number of clocks which public institutions and the homes of wealthy citizens are still adorned with nowadays.
