Valley Rehab Center Opens NEW FACILITY With Focus On Wellness Valley Rehab Center has moved to 3050 Guernsey St., Bellaire, Ohio. Our new, larger facility gives us the opportunity to expand our current Physical Therapy Services to include Wellness Programs on Disease Management and Lifestyle Modification. Mary Uraco, a Certified Wellness Coach will be joining our team as an independent contractor, to assist our clients in meeting their Wellness goals. Our Healthe Habits for Living program will assist clients in managing their weight and co-morbidities of hypertension, diabetes and obesity. To complete our Wellness menu we will continue to offer our monthly Massage and Tune Up Program along with Yoga and Meditation Classes. In 2018 we will continue our free Workshop Wednesdays. The second Wednesday of each month will focus on a disease management topic and the fourth Wednesday will focus on a Wellness topic. She is a graduate of The Dr Sears Wellness Institute, The Dr Axe Essential Oil Institute, and possesses certificates as a meditation instructor. She is a board certified drugless practitioner. Her strong medical background, degrees in the health sciences, and extensive experience allows her to customize a unique “L.E.A.N.” (Lifestyle-Exercise- Attitude-Nutrition) plan for her clients, based on their individual goals and needs. 4. Lumbar sprain/strain: This is a common cause of low back pain due to injury of muscles and tendons. The rows of muscles that run up and down the sides of the spinal colmn, are the major muscle groups usually involved in lower back injury. 5. Fractures:These are due to trauma, or sometimes occurwithoutany injury inpeoplewithosteoporosis. 6. Spinal cord compression:This is unusual, but very worrisome and may be associated with weakness and loss of bowel/bladder control. Medication and Bed Rest Most lower back pain sufferers try over the counter drugs and bed rest. However, most self remedies will not provide the relief that you need. In fact, bed rest is the wrong thing to do, because it can weaken the spinal muscles further. Weakness in the spinal muscles is one of the main reasons for low back pain and puts you at risk for injuring your back with common activities such as lifting, bending or squatting. Most of us sit too much and this contributes to severe weakening of the back and torso muscles which are needed for a healthy back.

Lumbar or sacral radiculopathy: The result of pressure on a nerve exiting the spine. Pain, numbness and tingling can be felt down in different parts of the leg. 2. Take Care of Your Aches and Pains Before It’s Too Late.
Healthy Recipe: ROQUEFORT PEAR SALAD
INGREDIENTS • 1 head leaf lettuce • 3 pears • 5 ounces Roquefort cheese • 1 avocado • 1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions • 1/4 cup white sugar • 1/2 cup pecans
• 1/3 cup olive oil • 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar • 1 1/2 teaspoons white sugar • 1 1/2 teaspoons prepared mustard • 1 clove garlic, chopped • 1/2 teaspoon salt • Fresh ground black pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS In a skillet over medium heat, stir 1/4 cup of sugar together with the pecans. Continue stirring gently until sugar has melted and caramelized the pecans. Carefully transfer nuts onto waxed paper. Allow to cool, and break into pieces. For the dressing, blend oil, vinegar, 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar, mustard, chopped garlic, salt, and pepper. In a large serving bowl, layer lettuce, pears, blue cheese, avocado, and green onions. Pour dressing over salad, sprinkle with pecans, and serve.
