• Form 8S, led by Gabriel Proctor , baked and donated a large number of delicious treats to sell for charity, raising just over £164 for Cancer Research UK • Paul Köttering , Jasper Goodsell , Roly Wheeler cycled over 800km along the Western Front in eight raising £2,470 in total CCF/Scouts • Nine boys from the Dulwich College CCF competed in the inaugural Guthrie Cup Competition which was held at Harrow School. They secured the overall first place, beating the nine other schools and collected the cup from the Field Marshal himself. • Edmund Beardsley and Oscar and Idris Owen , joined 40,000 scouts from 152 countries at the World Scout Jamboree in Japan Music • Leo Milne , Year 8, has been appointed Head Chorister of Southwark Cathedral • Jay Connor , Oboe, has won a place in the National Children’s Orchestra for a fourth year. Jay joins Joshua Theaker , French Horn and John Pederson , Violin, who have also won places in this prestigious Orchestra. • Ho Ting Chan , OA (04-15), has been awarded a Music Scholarship at St Hilda’s College, Oxford • The Joint Chapel Choir of JAGS and Dulwich College sang Evensong on Monday 12 October in St Paul’s Cathedral • Alasdair Howell was the winner for his performance of the Partita No 1 in B flat BWV 825 of the fifteenth Thwaites Bach competition •  James Orford , OA (03-14), won a major scholarship to the prestigious Royal Academy of Music while Organ Scholar of Truro Cathedral • A Battle of the Bands competition in which each band brought something different and inspiring to the stage was held. Extra entertainment was also provided by Ollie Norton-Smith and Theo Forbes , our upbeat and funny comperes. • Congratulations to Chris Law on passing DipABRSM in Piano Performance. The standard of the diploma is Level 4, equivalent to the end of University Year 1. • The inaugural Composition Competition received 26 superb entries which were adjudicated by our Visiting Composer Cecilia McDowall . The winners in the different categories were Hal Howe , Greg South and William Horseman . • The string department was involved in a very special trip, the focus of which was a Lunchtime concert given at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge • The Dulwich Symphony Orchestra announced that the Phillip McKenna Young Composer Award was won by Zachary Fox , for his composition ‘The River’s Journey’.
