Debating • Joe Atkinson and Kalan Kumar made it to the final of their first ever debating competition at the LSE’s debating competition. They did very well to win the novice final as well as to rank second and fourth respectively on the novice speaker tab. • Alisdair Gurling OA (12-14) left us in 2014, emigrating to Australia. However, he continued his enjoyment of public speaking and debating at Scotch College and after success at the Australian Individual Public Speaking Competition made it into the Australian team. • Kenza Wilks was named captain of Team England for their competition at the World Schools Debating Championship in Stuttgart, Germany • Raffy Marshall and Ronan Patrick represented Team England at the World Schools Debating Championships in Singapore after a hugely successful season. They achieved what no school has done before, winning the Durham Union Schools debating competition and topping the speaker rankings for the second year in a row. They also won the Oxford Schools Debating Competition, ranking as the best team out of 700 who entered from around the globe and they won the Cambridge Union Debating Competition.
