fellowship of believers. S p i r i t u a l losses are great because of failure in this follow-up work. A coal of fire soon turns gray and cold when sep arated from the other coals. 2. “Straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God" (Acts 9:20). The new convert always wants to tell about the One Who saved him. What Paul did here is a sure evidence of the genuineness of his conversion. The One he formerly hated, he now loved to proclaim. He avowed that Jesus (R. V.) was the Son of God. His thinking had under gone a complete revolution. True con version is always revolutionary. In Paul’s case, astonishment resulted from his change of attitude toward Christ, toward his own am bitions for position and wealth, toward the C h r i s t i a n s . He was a living miracle of transformation. How could beholders keep from wondering about him? It should always be so. 4. “Then d e p a r t e d Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul" (Acts 11:25). A problem which cannot be fully solved, presents itself here as to why Barnabas sought Saul on this par ticular occasion. Quite likely it was because of a great work of grace going on at Antioch which called for addi tional laborers. Saul could help to meet that need, and he was ready. Last Sunday we learned from God’s Word about the young man Saul, or Paul, meeting the Lord Jesus Christ upon the road to Damascus. Paul was on his way to punish any Christians that he could find. After Paul met the Saviour, rather than punishing Chris*
