1961 S U N D A Y SC H O O L LESSON M A T E R IA L S E very year there are half a dozen or more clothbound commentaries on the International Sunday School Les sons. The oldest and best known is Peloubet’s notes edited by Dr. Wilbur M. Smith, and published by W. A. Wilde in Natick, Mass. ($2.95). It features a bibliography with each les son, pictures, and an audio-visual schedule of selections. Gleanings are from a wide variety of sources. The Douglass series is published by Macmillan ($3.25) and is edited by Earl L. Douglass. It features audio visual aids, hints to teachers, and questions for discussion. One not so well known is Ray Ro- zell’s Complete Lessons , published by Rozell and Co., Fort Worth ($2.95). A statement of probable pupil needs, suggested aims for the lesson, and a note on lesson approach are of help to the teacher. Points for Emphasis is a pocket com mentary done by Clifton J. Allen and published by Broadman Press (95c). It is in its forty-fourth year. Torrey’s Gist of the Lesson now ed ited by Donald T. Kauffman, is an other pocket guide. Revell ($1.25). The Standard Lesson Commentary is edited by Orrin Root and published by Standard Publishing Company in Cincinnati ($2.95). An interesting feature of this volume is its index of Scripture passages in the International Sunday School lessons for the past eight years. This index is worth con siderable to the pastor or Sunday School teacher who wants to avail himself of lesson commentaries on the International lessons, regardless of what commentaries he may have ac cumulated.
