On the plane! Y2 Australia day.
A GOOD DAY Abbey’s Year 2 pupils embarked on an exciting immersive Australia Day to launch their topic. The classroom was transformed as children took part in a role-play aeroplane flight, “travelling” to Australia with passports and in-flight announcements. On arrival, pupils explored and identified famous physical and man-made landmarks, showing great curiosity and enthusiasm. They then created detailed fact files about native Australian animals, demonstrating impressive research skills. The day concluded with vibrant artwork inspired by Peter Cromer’s bird designs, with pupils using bold colours and patterns to produce striking pieces. The immersive experience sparked excitement and engagement, providing a memorable and creative start to their learning journey about Australia.
