Suspicious person alert Renfrew OPP are investigating a possible human predator incident. Parents in other Eastern Ontario communities are urged to make sure their children are clear on how to recognize and react when facing a possible «stranger danger» situation as the risk may not seem as obvious as in the Renfrew case. Over the Aug. 29 weekend, a 12-year-old child in the town of Calabogie in Renfrew County was on his bike headed for home when he was startled by a van. The police report states the van driver opened his door, told the child to «come here» and, when the child refused, got out, walked over to the child and placed a hand on the boy’s shoulder. The child pulled away and sped off on his bike. The man got back in the van and followed him for a short distance until the child met up with a cousin near their school. Together, they went to the cousin’s house and reported the incident. Police are looking for a man, standing between five-foot-ten and six-feet, with a skinny build. At the time of the incident he was dressed all in black and also wearing a ski mask. He was reported driving a black van with tinted windows and no licence plates. – Gregg Chamberlain River Rock Candles presents: Candlemaking Workshops - Sat.
