TOO BUSY TO 5 SIMPLE WAYS TO STAY ACTIVE Being active doesn’t have to mean going to the gym every single day. An active lifestyle can be as simple as going for a walk around the neighborhood for a few minutes a day. There are plenty of ways to exercise during daily activities like shopping, spending time with your kids, or hanging around the house. PARK FARTHER AWAY. A lot of people will spend several minutes trying to find a parking space as close as they can to the entrance of a store. However, parking a little farther away will help you score a better parking space and make sure you get your steps in for the day. DO SOME YOGA. You don’t have to push yourself to your absolute limit in order to stay active. There are other, gentler ways to exercise than running 5 miles a day. Tai chi or yoga are excellent low-impact alternatives to keep your body fit and healthy.

REDUCE TV TIME. It can be tempting to plop down in front of the television after a long day at work or after dinner, but you can also

MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE FIELD MEET RICHARD BENNETT!

Few words strike fear into a plant owner’s heart more than “downtime.” The lost productivity, time, and money from a single pump or blower malfunctioning can quickly become untenable. That’s why we have highly experienced field service technicians on call and ready to get your plant back online at a moment’s notice. Richard Bennett is one of these talented professionals. “I like meeting new customers — every day brings something different,” Richard tells us while driving between service calls. Having done contract work with us since January, this former Georgia Pacific mechanic became a full-fledged part of our team this August. “What I like at Pye-Barker is the small-family feel,” Richard reflects from the driver’s seat. “Everyone knows one another.” “I came to Pye-Barker looking to start a new chapter,” Richard tells us. He explains that having variety in the work he gets to do was a big factor in making the carrier jump from operator mechanic to field technician. “It can be challenging when working on competitors’ machines,” he says. “The concepts are the same, but the design is different … Still, it’s better than doing the same thing every day.” Richard is just as adventurous during his off hours as he is in his profession. When he’s not at the shooting range or hunting, you can find him fishing, climbing, rappelling, or just enjoying a hike in the

Georgia backwoods. It’s clear this South Carolina native loves to explore everything our state has to offer!

Cool, confident, and efficient, Richard is the embodiment of what a service technician should be. Whether working on one of our units or even a competitor’s, he has the know-how and dedication to get your plant running smoothly, fast. We’re lucky to have him as a part of our team!
