AQUATHLON A new House event, a new challenge. Described by the teachers as their ‘guinea pigs’ we undertook House aquathon and it was a real success. The course for the Year 6s was a 100m swim and then a 900m run. This may sound like an easy feat but when you're competing against the clock and the rest of the Year Group, things take a different turn of events. We were released every 20 seconds to start the swimming. Then once we'd finished the swim we ran out the side of the pool through a door which led outside. Almost directly in front of the door was the transition area. Here waiting for us were our House shirt and trainers which we had placed there before the race had begun. Our aim at this point was to, as fast as possible, slip both items of clothing on and run. After about 30m we reached the track where the real running began. Mr King was waiting for us at the start of the track and explained (while we were running) how the cones system worked. It was very simple and helped restrict a mass crowd of people running on the inside lane. It was an inredible experience enjoyed by everyone who came in first place or last. The teachers organised the event really well so I hope others will join me in saying thank you. Torin Lynch, 6R
