Good finance report for school district
During their Nov. 19 board session, trust- ees reviewed a financial report on the 2013- 2014 fiscal year of operations from a repre- sentative with the KPMG auditing firm. The overall financial statement summary was positive. “These results reflect the dedication and accountability of all staff,” stated William J. Gartland, CDSBEO education director, “and our focus on making resources matter, in
particular for the success of the student in the classroom. We continue to remain fo- cused on providing the best quality Catho- lic education possible for students in East- ern Ontario.” The financial report noted that the school district met all of the provincial govern- ment’s demands for balanced budgeting by school districts while at the same time meeting special education needs in the
district and also maintaining provincial de- mands for smaller teacher-to-student class- room size ratios that would allow teach- ers to provide more one-on-one attention when needed with individual students. In the CDSBEO during the past fiscal year all primary classes, from junior Kindergarten to grade 3 had an average of 23 students and in about 90 per cent of cases the student class size was 20 or less.

Meet Ali Ismaily, RPN, Foot Care Specialist at FOOT CARE MATTERS in Russell, ON. Ali hasn’t been in the region for long but his love for our little community runs deep and strong. Since moving to Russell two years ago to be close to work at Winchester Hospital and to his family and loved ones, Ali has helped people of all ages improve their overall health by focusing on the feet. Ali’s patients suffer in a variety of ways including loss of feeling, sometimes a burning or tingling sensation, cramping or numbness or non-healing sores – all in their feet. Having spent years nursing at Winchester and ROH, Ali noticed that there was a gap in the care and attention given to patients who suffered foot-related issues. Ali n’est pas dans la région depuis longtemps, mais son amour pour notre petite communauté est profond et fort. Il y a deux ans, Ali a décidé de déménager à Russell pour être près de son travail à l’hôpital de Winchester, de sa famille et ses proches, et d’aider les gens de tous âges à améliorer leur santé générale en se concentrant sur les pieds. Ces patients souffrent d’une variété de façons, y compris la perte de sensation, parfois une sensation de brûlure ou de picotement, de crampes ou d’engourdissements ou même des plaies qui ne guérissent pas.
