Association. At that particular time, the school had moved to the La Mirada campus and had been on the campus for a year. The Examining Committee from the WCA had checked us out and was bringing us a report to the Spring meeting of the Association, which was being held in the Hilton Hotel. The whole school knew that the meeting was being held and that our name would be brought up, either for denial or for acceptance into membership. Fortunately, the morning of the meeting the Accreditation Committee brought in its report and Biola was first on the list. It was recommended by the Examining Committee that we become an accredited member of the Western College Association, and it was so voted. I was sitting in the meeting, gnawing on my fingernails, and when that word came through and the motion was passed, I quietly slipped out, telephoned the campus to have the student body in assembly in 45 minutes because I had an announcement to make.
