Local paramedic students in Kingston

COMMUNITY | The St. Lawrence College’s second-year class of paramedic students participated in an emergency training day to assist in the ongoing training of new emergency physicians last month, at the Frontenac Paramedic Services building in Kingston. The physicians involved will be eventu- ally receiving radio transmissions and tele- phone calls from paramedics in the field to determine further treatment needed. The event was sponsored by the Regional Paramedic Program for Eastern Ontario (RPPEO), also known as the Base Hospital. Other local paramedic services involved included crews from Cornwall SD&G Para- medic Service, Lanark Paramedic Service, Hastings Quinte Paramedic Service, Lennox & Addington Paramedic Service, Leeds & Grenville Paramedic Service and Frontenac Paramedic Service. The all-day event involved the emergen- cy physicians in training, work as part of a paramedic crew, on a series of mock ac- cidents and multiple casualty incidents, to get first-hand experience in what paramed-
