The RocklandNationals Junior A team lost one game and won one game last week and, having won in overtime, only picked up one point for the win. The Nats faced a tough loss at home at the CIH Arena on Friday, December 15, losing 7-2 to the Carleton Place Canadians. Mathieu Blanchette and Michael Keating picked up the Nats’ two goals of the game. Keating answered to Canadians’ Sam Allison’s goal in the first period with his own goal during an evenly-matched 20 minutes. The Cana- dians then picked up two more goals in the second period and four more in the third period before Blanchette scored the second goal for the Nats, which turned out to be too little too late for the team to recover from. Keating was named third star of the game for his goal, while Carleton Place players Travis Broughman and Peyton Francis earned their second and first stars, respectively. Both teams were clearly on edge throughout this game with 19 penalties cal- led in the third period – 9 against the Cana- dians and ten against the Nats. Nats’ Simon Houle got himself a ten-minute penalty for misconduct, along with Conor Beatty. Tre- vor Coykendall got himself 10 minutes on the bench for fighting.
