The importance of the brain-body connection in behavioral regulation and building empathetic relationships with students to impact behavior will be discussed. Strategies for home and classroom behavior management will be identified, as well as ways to assist children with feeling safe and secure in the classroom.

Music in the Classroom to Enhance Regulation and Learning explores the power of music to aid in emotional regulation of all students and adults. Sections of the training explore the use of music for general education students, a section specifically for students with autism, and ideas to create culturally responsive and inclusive environments so that students with autism have greater opportunities to engage with their neurotypical peers. If you play an instrument, bring it. Don’t worry we will have some to share for a culminating activity.

Intended Audience

TK-12 grade special education and general education teachers, administrators, and paraprofessionals.
