Tomorrowland announces full timetable for 2023 festival
For the Belgian festival's 17th edition, more than 750 artists will play across 16 stages with the event once again taking place over two weekends from 21st-23rd July and 28th-30th July. This year's theme is 'Adscendo', and a special main stage set has been crafted around the theme by Tomorrowland's in-house design team. The bulk of this year's line-up was confirmed in January. Adam Beyer, Tiësto, Martin Garrix, HAAi, Steve Aoki, Black Coffee, ANNA, Amelie Lens, Honey Dijon, Alesso and Tale Of Us are among the many acts set to play, with Eric Prydz also locked in for a performance of his HOLO show.
The Fugees announce world tour to celebrate 25 years of ‘The Score’ Marking the release of the iconic 1996 record, and their first live tour in 15 years, Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Pras Michael are reuniting as The Fugees for a 12-date tour. 'The Score' was the second and final studio album from The Fugees before they disbanded in 2005 after citing creative differences. The LP sold 22 million copies worldwide, and certified seven times platinum in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This application fee is not applicable to current Samro members. The non-refundable application fee for first-time applicants will be R100 for composers and authors and R500 for publishers and will come into effect from 1 June 2023.

INTERVIEW WITH SOLOMON JOHN: Embracing Musical Evolution and Finding "Home"
W e had the pleasure of speaking with John Solomon, an accomplished DJ and singer, about his latest track "Home" and his musical journey. Here's what he had to say: Congratulations on the release of your latest track, "Home"! Can you tell us a bit about the inspiration behind the song and what it means to you personally? Hi! Thank you so much! "Home" was the track I've always wanted to make. It combines a soulful melody with a classic drop that hooks you in and demands repeated listening. The lyrics actually came to me during the lockdown when I had Covid and was uncertain about my health. Being alone in Jozi at the time made me reflect on the true meaning of home and how everything looks different when you're unsure if you'll wake up tomorrow. You recently completed your professional DJ course at the DJ and Music Production Institute. How has this training influenced your approach to music production, and how did it contribute to the creation of your DJ/Artist brand?
Yes! It was a tremendous learning experience for me. As a songwriter, my focus had always been on conveying feelings rather than seamlessly blending music or considering its context. The course allowed me to take a step back and view music production as the art of stitching together a musical tapestry. To use an analogy, it shifted my perspective from looking at a single word on a page to envisioning what the entire page could look like. In radio, time constraints dictate shorter tracks, but as a DJ, I have the space to take smaller, more meaningful steps that create tension and mood. This motivation has pushed me to explore my creative side further, unrestricted by time limitations. "Home" has been described as an ultra-smooth indie track. How would you define your musical style, and how do you feel this track represents your artistic evolution? I don't think I have a specific style that I confine myself to.

I believe I have music for every mood, leading me to create a variety of tracks that range from super happy to really chill and sometimes deeply introspective. As a singer and DJ, how do you balance these two roles in your music career? Do you find that one influences the other, and if so, how? First and foremost, I just love music. I write down the ideas that come to my head, and I'm fortunate to have an audience that enjoys what I create. As a DJ, there is a greater opportunity to be
I appreciate that the courses cater to all levels of experience, which further highlighted how much more I have to learn and grow. What challenges did you face during the production of "Home," and how did you overcome them? Were there any memorable moments or interesting anecdotes from the recording process? The main challenge for me was to avoid writing corny lyrics. I always want people to say, "This is exactly what I wanted to say." Hopefully, I can continue achieving that. The funniest thing about

continuous learning. I've gathered more ideas for creating breaks and building peaks at the DJ desk than I have while playing the guitar recently. So, being a student of both roles definitely helps. As someone already familiar with music theory and chord structures, the institute provided a solid launchpad to advance my existing knowledge.
