Greater OKC Chamber Membership Brochure

VISITORS A key factor of a successful economy and growing city is the vitality of the city’s visitor industry. Each year, the visitor industry in Greater Oklahoma City generates an economic impact of more than $2 billion and employs more than 32,000 people. These numbers clearly show this booming industry is a vital component of Greater Oklahoma City’s success. A division of the Chamber, the Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) is dedicated to the promotion of the city as a first-class visitor destination , bolstering the region’s economic well-being through the solicitation and servicing of conventions and other related group business, as well as individual travelers. Through VisitOKC.com , the CVB helps visitors plan their trips by suggesting great options to eat, stay and see the best attractions. The staff also works with groups and meeting planners to organize events and conventions – whether they have 10 attendees or 10,000. DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber believes that creating dialogue about systemic racism and taking steps to combat it in our workplaces is vital to our city’s health and future. We believe that our diversity is a source of strength, and we want to see growth and shared prosperity through diverse workforces and a strong minority-owned business community. The Chamber, through a partnership with the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City, is seeking to build a more inclusive and diverse corporate community in Oklahoma City through: • Initiating a business community conversation on anti-racism through our Creating a Culture of Inclusion event series. • Developing an annual research publication that tracks and reports on diversity and economic equality in Oklahoma City. • Establishing a diversity council of executives to examine the data and determine a strategy to make Oklahoma City a more diverse and inclusive place. • Creating leadership and mentorship programs to grow and invest in Oklahoma talent. • Increasing minority supplier development and minority employment
