Region takes on festive air

The riverfront municipalities of Prescott and Russell will take on festive airs from July 4 to 6, for the third edition of the Ottawa River Festival. The communities of Hawkesbury, Chute-à- Blondeau, L’Orignal, Lefaivre, Wendover and Rock- land are organizing various activities to celebrate the Ottawa River and the developmental role that it has played for the region. All proceeds from Mayors’ Challenge of Sunday, July 6 will benefit the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital Foundation. Registration is still open for both events and organizers encourage the teams to demonstrate creativity. Those who would like to have an up-close look at the high-performance boats are invited to the procession that will take place on Main Street in Hawkesbury on Friday evening. Tickets can be pur- chased during the cocktail at the Maison de l’Île following the procession by anyone who would like to try out one of the high-speed boats. Rockland Ford has once again lent its support to the “Building the Heart of Our Community” or- ganization as well as breast cancer research. The Two Mustangs have already been driving through Prescott and Russell flaunting their colours. The first one displays the breast cancer theme and while the other is covered with the partners’ logos. Both will be among the 200 vehicles participating in Saturday’s Rockland Ford Classic Poker Run. Motorcycles will also have their turn to take to the road on Sunday with hundreds of bikes riding M.S.
