• VBS in c r ea s e s Sunday school enrollment—in fact, helps to revitalize the total church program. • VBS develops, trains, and en cou ra g e s new workers through in-service training. 4. Impact on Your Community • VBS provides a passport in to unchurched homes. • VBS uses leisure time con structively, combating ju venile delinquency. • VBS reaches pu p ils and parents o f all nationalities, ages, religions, and social groups. To conduct a VBS is a big job and already you may be very busy. But if you recognize the values o f this agency in your church program and let the Lord work through you to reach others for Him, you’ll surely find that “ Your labor is not in vain in the Lord” (I Cor. 15:58). So if someone steps up to you and asks, “Would you consider serving t he L o rd in VBS?” prayerfully consider the privilege of being a partner with the Lord in a fruitful, Bible-teaching, soul winning ministry. Q. What do you consider to be the best hours for VBS? A . It depends on your situation. In most churches, VBS is scheduled for two consecutive weeks in the mornings. But leaders are discov ering that more laymen may be available to teach if VBS is sched uled at other times. Here are some proven plans: 1. Hold one week o f VBS, but conduct classes during both mornings and afternoons. 2. Conduct an evening VBS for two weeks. More men are free to help then. 3. Have a split-level school — with the program for children at one time and that for teens and adults at another time. For instance: • Teach Nursery and Begin ner children mornings, Jun iors through Adults the eve nings o f the same week.
