Dans les pas de Terry Fox à l’entraînement, il a marché de Hawkesbury à L’Orignal pour ensuite se rendre à Alfred et, "nalement, terminer à Ottawa. Il a également enfour- ché son vélo pour couvrir la distance entre Lachute et Ottawa. «La traversée, je vais la faire pour les jeunes et pour combattre le décrochage scolaire, a-t-il rajouté. Parfois, ça prend juste un petit quelque chose pour qu’un jeune se trouve une passion et tourne sa vie de bord.» Un dé! pour l’autre côté du pont En plus de son entraînement, Steve O’Brien lance un dé" aux écoles de Prescott- Russell pour la Course de la Fondation, qui aura lieu le 11 octobre prochain à Lachute. La coureuse Jade Bérubé, une des athlètes d’excellence du Séminaire du Sacré-Cœur de Pointe-au-Chêne, assurera la présidence d’honneur de l’événement. «Quand j’étais jeune, je courrais souvent contre les athlètes des écoles de Hawkes- bury, a-t-il poursuivi. Je me rappelle que je les battais souvent! Cette année, en plus des épreuves de 1 à 10 kilomètres, qui sont ouvertes à tous, il va y avoir un relais de cinq kilomètres pour les écoles. Chaque école aura cinq coureurs qui feront un kilo- mètre chacun. Si les écoles de Hawkesbury veulent se joindre à celles d’Argenteuil, elles sont les bienvenues et ça serait vraiment bien car l’avenir de nos jeunes, ça n’a pas de frontière.» Les pro"ts des événements de la Fon- dation permettent d’aider les jeunes à at- teindre l’excellence et servent à combattre le décrochage scolaire.
