INSTRUCTOR / DEVELOPER BIOGRAPHIES

from the University of Colorado at Boulder where he studied the phenomenon of adhesion in MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) structures. Dhruv’s passion lies in combining theory, experimental methods and simulation to answer challenging research questions in new and effective ways, seeking inspiration from multiple disciplines. Larry Bissell Larry Bissell is a renowned and well respected international trainer, consultant, and auditor specializing in automotive supply chain management, supplier development, business management systems, business excellence, and continual improvement for all size automotive companies. Mr. Bissell is recognized as an authority on global supply chain requirements and global supplier development, particularly regarding the stringent requirements of automotive OEM’s within the United States. His expertise, abilities, and techniques are designed and structured for automotive supplier organizations that wish to participate in the automotive global supply chain market. Mr. Bissell has over 30 years of indus- trial experience and has been directly involved in over 1000 highly successful management system audits and client consultations within the ISO 9001, QS-9000, and ISO/TS 16949:2002 arenas. Jeff Blackburn Jeff Blackburn is the Head of Business Development for Metamoto, Inc., a Silicon Valley startup developing a scalable cloud based simulation solution, enabling organizations that don’t have the internal resources or abilities of a Google, to take a real world event and expand it using simulation into millions of cases running in the cloud, providing much more comprehensive training and test coverage. Prior to joining Metamoto, he spent six years as the North American ADAS and Autonomous Vehicle subject matter expert for Siemens PLM Software, Inc. working with their gen 1 simulation tool, PreScan. Jeff has also held positions in controls and systems engineering with National Instruments, Takata, Fanuc Robotics, and Rockwell Automation. He has extensive experience in biomechanics, injury mechanisms and causation, occupant protection, testing, and regulatory requirements and regulatory processes. Jeff has organized and presented at numerous technical forums and has taught the SAE C1603 “Introduction to the Highly Automated Vehicle” class to many industry audiences as well as to NHTSA on multiple occasions. He has been issued twenty-one U.S patents, primarily in the area of occupant safety. He has a B.S. in Engineering and a J.D. from the University of Akron. Farhad Bolourchi Dr. Bolourchi is currently a staff research engineer II with Nexteer Automotive Innovation Center where he designs algorithms for advanced chassis systems. Farhad helped develop Delphi’s first electric power steering system, for which he received the company’s highest technical award, the “Boss Kettering”. Dr. Bolourchi previously worked for Hughes Aircraft Company and gained valuable experience in both missile systems controls and automotive applications. He was also a part time faculty

pump applications and directed the applied research initiatives in fluid flow and noise suppression. Mr. Baseley also has extensive experience within the aerospace industry, previously serving as Chief Design Engineer for Rolls-Royce Ltd. An active member of SAE, Mr. Baseley has written several papers on noise related research and hydraulic hybrid systems. He holds eight patents related to hydraulic pumps and hybrid systems. Mr. Baseley, formally educated in the U.K., received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham and a M.S. in Aircraft Propulsion from Cranfield University. Gray Beauchamp Mr. Beauchamp is a Principal Engineer focusing on vehicular accident reconstruction at Kineticorp, LLC. He has been working and conducting research in the field of accident reconstruction since 2003. Mr. Beauchamp has published numerous technical papers and articles related to accident reconstruction. The majority of his research has focused on the various phases of single vehicle loss-of-control crashes including controllability following tire disablements, tire mark interpretation, vehicle trip dynamics and rollover dynamics. Much of his work has involved full scale vehicle testing. Gray holds a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and is a Professional Engineer in the state of Colorado. John-Paul Belanger John-Paul Belanger is president of Geometric Learning Systems, a consulting firm specializing in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (G D & T). For over ten years, he has trained people throughout North America and Europe in the proper interpretation and application of G D & T per the Y14.5 standard by using practical examples. Mr. Belanger is certified by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as a Senior G D & T Professional, and has worked with a wide range of companies in the automotive, aerospace, electronics, and other industries to apply tolerances and perform stack calculations. He holds a B.S. in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan specializing in aircraft design and safety. Dhruv Bhate Dhruv Bhate is an Associate Professor at the Arizona State University (ASU), The Polytechnic School, where he conducts research in the design and mechanics of Additive Manufacturing (AM) structures and materials, and teaches courses in AM processes, design and materials at the undergraduate and graduate level. Prior to joining ASU, Dhruv spent two years at PADT, Inc, a small business in Tempe, AZ, where he led the company’s R&D efforts in Additive Manufacturing. Prior to joining PADT, he spent seven years at Intel Corporation developing several laser-based manufacturing processes, taking them from early-stage research to High-Volume-Manufacturing. He also spent a year in the automotive industry, working for India’s largest car manufacturer, Tata Motors. Dhruv has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University where he developed constitutive and failure models for the prediction of fatigue fracture in ductile metal alloys. Prior to this, he obtained his M.S.
