Carjacker trap foiled Carjackers in the Greater Ottawa area are try- ing a “pincer maneuver” trap to catch some of their victims and may seek potential marks in other parts of Eastern Ontario. Ottawa Police Services have a report of a recent incident where a woman, parked at an Ottawa bank branch and while she was inside, noticed a man watching her.The man then got into a red Dodge Caravan outside.When the woman finished her banking business, she drove away in her own vehicle. She noticed first the red Caravan pulling up in front of her and then a red Toyota Matrix pulling into position right behind her. She managed to get out of the apparent trap by doing a U-turn. As she drove away, her vehicle dashboard sen- sor warned of low pressure in one tire. Later inspection showed the tire had been slashed. Police have a license plate number for one of the suspicious vehicles and warn other motorists to be alert for any similar activity when they are out and about. – Gregg Chamberlain
