Service Coordination for Persons with Special Needs is a non-profit corporation funded by the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services and the Ministry of Community and Youth Services and governed by a volunteer Board. Service Coordination des services is the initial contact for individuals who have a developmental disability in the Eastern Region. We help people find the supports and services in the community that are needed to assist them in their daily lives. One of our important goals is to empower families/individuals to make informed choices about the supports they seek. We are looking for volunteers from Renfrew, Pembroke, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and Prescott-Russell to serve on our Board of Directors. Interested candidates must show a passion for the welfare of children and adults with a developmental disability and be dedicated to supporting the vision and mission of Service Coordination. We are looking for people of varying professional backgrounds to lend their expertise particularly in the areas of human resources, communications, experience in working with provincial government departments. Ideally, new members should have direct experience with children or adults with developmental disabilities. Preference will be shown to individuals who have Board of Director experience. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and live in the Eastern Region. Board members can expect to attend 8 to 10 Board meetings each year and must be prepared to participate in the work of a Board committee. Meetings are scheduled for the early evening on weeknights and are usually held in our offices at the address given below. Board members are appointed for a 3-year term and are eligible for re-election to a maximum of 2 consecutive terms.
