Hayatona – Our Life
ومــــــع تنامــــــي الحضور الدولــــــي للصندوق في مجال المنح الصغيرة لحماية الأنواع، تهيأت فرصة البناء على السمعة الراسخة والمصداقية التي أرســــــاها إرث المغفور له الشــــــيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان، مؤسس دولــــــة الإمــــــارات. فمنذ البدايــــــة، انطلقت رؤيتنا من إدراك واضح بأن جميع الكائنات الحية تؤدي دورًا أساسيًا في الحفاظ على توازن النُظم البيئية وصحتها. علــــــى مر الســــــنوات، انتقــــــل الصندوق من برنامج للمنح الصغيرة إلى منصّة واســــــعة النطــــــاق لمعالجة تحديات حماية الطبيعة، عبر نهج شــــــمولي يدمج الإنسان والتنوع الحيــــــوي والطبيعة في إطار واحد. فبينما تمثّل المنح الصغيرة التي تقدّمها الجهات المانحــــــة مثل الصندوق تمويلا تأسيســــــيًا حيويًــــــا للمشــــــاريع الصغيــــــرة ومحــــــدّدة النطــــــاق، فــــــإن الدعم طويــــــل الأمد يظل العامل الأهم لتحقيق نتائج مستدامة في مجال الحماية. ومن هنا، يصبح لزامًا على الشركاء في مشــــــاريع الحماية استكشاف نماذج تمويل مبتكرة ومســــــتدامة تضمن استمرار الأثر وتعزيزه. ويبــــــرز مثال واضــــــح على ذلك في مبادرة فريق عمــــــل النّمر الثّلجــــــي المرقّط، الذي أطلق مشروعًا صغير النطاق لتربية النحل وزراعة الخضروات في قرية سالكبور في نيبال. فقد بدأ المشروع بهدف توفير موارد لدعم جهــــــود الحماية، ثم تطــــــوّر ليصبح مصدر دخل للأســــــر المحلية، ليستفيد منه أســــــرة. ولم 300 فــــــي نهاية المطاف نحو يقتصــــــر أثــــــر المبادرة على توفير العســــــل كمــــــورد صحي ومصدر دخلٍ، بل أســــــهمت
O شهدت جهود حماية الطبيعة عالميًا خلال العقديــــــن الماضيين تحوّل نوعيًا نحو نهج أكثر شــــــمول وحيوية، يوفّــــــق بين حماية الأنواع وصون النُظم البيئية الواسعة التي تحتضنها. وقد أتاح هذا التحوّل دمج رفاه الإنسان، والتقنيات المتقدمة، والسياسات العالمية واسعة النطاق ضمن رؤية متكاملة لفهم النُظم البيئية. Over the past two decades, global conservation has evolved into a more inclusive and dynamic discipline, bal- ancing species-specific approaches with landscape pro- tection. This transformation integrates human well-be- ing, advanced technology, and large-scale global policy, reflecting a holistic understanding of ecological system. In the UAE, this evolution is evident through signifi- cant achievements such as the Marine Protected Areas Strategy, which safeguards marine biodiversity along our coastlines, and the successful breeding programme for the Arabian Oryx, which has led to its reintroduction into protected areas. The establishment of Wadi Wurayah National Park in 2009 marked another milestone as the UAE ʹ s first protected mountain area dedicated to conserv- ing its rich biodiversity. A landmark moment came with the formation of the Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conser- vation Fund in the same year. The Fund, the only agency in the Middle East focused on species conservation fund- ing, would become a major force and conservation leader. Our journey began with a grant review meeting on 1 June 2009, aiming to consolidate a new global conservation Fund that had been launched the previous October amid economic challenges. شهدت awarded nearly USD 2 million for over 130 projects. Fast forward to today: we ʹ ve assisted over 3,200 grantees across 175 countries, forging partnerships with more than 2,000 conservation allies. The message is clear: the United Arab Emirates is deeply committed to global conservation. As the Fund established its global position in small grants for species conservation, it also allowed us to build on the reputation and credibility set by the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE ʹ s founding father. From the very beginning, we recognised that all living beings play a vital role in maintaining a healthy, balanced ecosystem. Over the years, the Fund transitioned from a small grants programme to addressing larger conservation challenges through a holistic approach that integrates people, biodi- versity, and nature. The small grants from a donor such as the Fund are vital starter funding for small, discrete projects, but longer-term support yields more sustaina- ble conservation results. Project partners would need to explore innovative sustainable funding models to ensure continued impact. One such example of generating sus- tainable finance is the Clouded Leopard Working Group ʹ s small-scale beekeeping and vegetable gardening project وفــــــي دولة الإمــــــارات، تتجلّى ملامح هذا التطــــــوّر فــــــي إنجــــــازات بارزة، مــــــن بينها اســــــتراتيجية المحميّــــــات البحريــــــة التي أســــــهمت في صون التنوّع الحيوي البحري علــــــى امتداد الســــــواحل، وبرنامــــــج إكثار المهــــــا العربي الــــــذي أتاح إعــــــادة توطينه في المناطق المحمية. كما شــــــكّل تأسيس 2009 محميــــــة وادي الوريعة الوطنية عام محطــــــة مفصليــــــة، إذ كانــــــت أول منطقة جبلية محمية في الدولة مكرّســــــة للحفاظ على تنوعهــــــا الحيوي الغنــــــي. وفي العام ذاتــــــه، جــــــاءت لحظة مفصليّــــــة أخرى مع تأسيس صندوق محمد بن زايد للمحافظة على الكائنات الحية. ويُعد الصندوق الجهة الوحيدة في الشــــــرق الأوسط المتخصصة فــــــي تمويل جهــــــود حماية الأنــــــواع، وقد أصبح قوة فاعلة ومرجعًا قياديًا في مجال صون التنوّع الحيوي على مستوى العالم. بدأت مسيرتنا باجتماع لمراجعة المنح في ، بهدف ترسيخ 2009 الأول من يونيو عام صنــــــدوق عالمــــــي جديــــــد معنــــــي بحماية الطبيعة، الذي وُضِعت أسسه في أكتوبر من العام الســــــابق في ظل تحديات اقتصادية عالميــــــة. وبحلول نهاية ذلــــــك العام، جرى تخصيص ما يقارب مليوني دولر أمريكي مشــــــروعًا. واليوم، 130 لدعــــــم أكثر مــــــن يمتــــــد أثر هذه الجهود ليشــــــمل دعم أكثر دولة، وبناء 175 مســــــتفيد في 3,200 من شريك في 2,000 شراكات مع ما يزيد على مجال الحماية، بمــــــا يعكس بوضوح عمق التزام دولة الإمــــــارات بدعم جهود حماية الطبيعة على المستوى العالمي.
