Its value lies in its ability to overcome language barriers, foster the exchange of ideas, and lay the foundations for mutual understanding through knowledge. It also strengthens international relations by enabling the transfer of ideas and values, enriches languages with contemporary terminology, and gives scholars and researchers access to the latest developments in their academic and scientific fields.” He continued: “The Kalima Translation Project is a pi- oneering strategic initiative that delivers translations aligned with the highest purpose of translation: strength- ening communication between cultures. This begins with a translator’s deep understanding of the cultures involved, along with a nuanced grasp of the language in both the source and target texts. Such insight enables the translator to engage fully with the text, choosing the most appropriate expressions to convey meaning faith- fully, without distortion. When needed, introductions and annotations provide essential context, helping read- ers engage with the work in its entirety.” He added: “Within the project, we are committed to applying best practices in translation to ensure quality, clarity, and accuracy, while remaining attentive to the cultural and linguistic context of the original text. This approach allows each translation to resonate meaning- fully with its intended audience. We also place strong emphasis on diversity, selecting works that respond to the knowledge needs of different segments of society and readers across all age groups.” He continued: “The Centre is committed to adopting standards that reinforce the leadership of its publishing initiatives, beginning with earning the trust of publish- ers, upholding intellectual property rights, and building partnerships with nearly 300 international publishing houses, including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Galli-

حقق حقـــــق مشـــــروع كلمة للترجمة، التابع لمركز أبوظبي للغـــــة العربية، نجاحات كبيرة، دفعتـــــه إلى صدارة المشـــــاريع المؤثرة في مســـــيرة الترجمة إلـــــى اللغة العربية، من خـــــال إحياء حركة الترجمة، وإثراء المكتبة العربية بآلاف العناوين المترجمة من لغات العالم كافة، ونقل المعارف والآداب العالمية، ونشـــــر قيم التســـــامح والتواصل الإنســـــاني والثقافـــــي لدولة الإمـــــارات. وقد حفّز ذلك المركز علـــــى إطاق مبادرته العالمية “ كلمة إلى العالم”، دعمًا لمسيرة إحياء حركة الترجمة التي تبنّاها مشروع كلمـــــة للترجمـــــة، وهذه المرة من العربية إلـــــى اللغات العالمية، نظرًا لما للترجمة من أهمية كبرى في حياة الشعوب. أُطلِقت المبادرة ضمن معرض فرانكفورت الدولي للكتاب، حيث عقد المركز سلسلة اجتماعات مع عدد من دور النشـــــر العالمية، التي أبدت اهتمامها بترجمة مختارات مـــــن أبـــــرز الكتب العربية الصادرة عن المركـــــز، والمعبّرة عن جماليات الأدب والفكر العربي، إلى عدد من لغات العالم، بما يســـــهم في تعزيز حضور الثقافة العربية في سوق الكتاب العالمية. وعلى ضوء ذلك، وعن أهمية الترجمة ودورها في تعزيز الحراك الثقافي والتقارب المعرفي، قال ســـــعادة ســـــعيد حمـــــدان الطنيجي، المدير التنفيـــــذي لمركز أبوظبي للغـــــة العربيـــــة: “الترجمـــــة أداة حضارية لا غنى عنها؛ فهي رافعـــــة للنهضة الفكرية والعلمية، وجهد إبداعي لتجسير المسافات بين ثقافات العالم. وتكمن أهميتها في كونها الوسيلة الأساسية لتجاوز الحاجز اللغوي، وتعزيز التبادل الفكري والحضاري، والتأسيس للتفاهم بين الشعوب على أسس من المعرفة، وتقوية العاقات الدولية مـــــن خـــــال نقل الأفكار والقيم. كما أنها أداة لا غنى عنها لإثراء اللغات بمصطلحات
The Kalima Translation Project, an initiative of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, has emerged as a leading force in Arabic translation. By helping to revive the translation movement, en- riching the Arabic library with thousands of titles from around the world, and facilitating the transfer of global knowledge and literature, the project has also played a key role in promoting the UAE’s values of tolerance and cultural dialogue. Building on this momentum, the Centre launched its global initiative, Kalima to the World, in support of the translation movement championed by the Kalima Project, this time extending beyond Arabic into other languages. This initiative reflects the vital role translation plays in connecting cultures and shaping societies. The initiative was unveiled at the Frankfurt International Book Fair, where the Centre held a series of meetings with interna- tional publishers. These discussions sparked strong interest in translating a curated selection of leading Arabic titles published by the Centre – works that reflect the richness of Arab literature and thought - into multiple world languages. The move marks a significant step toward strengthening the presence of Arab cul- ture on the global publishing stage.
