لغة. كما يُنظّم ســـــنويًا مؤتمر للترجمة لمناقشـــــة قضايا وورقات بحثية متعلقة 24 بالترجمة، تهدف إلى بناء مجتمعات المعرفة والاطاع على مقترحات المترجمين، إلى جانب مشاركتهم في ورشات عمل، وتدريبهم على التعامل مع التحديات التي تواجههم في هذا المجال.” وأكّد ســـــعادته: “لا يقتصر التشـــــجيع والتحفيز على المترجمين، بل يمتد ليشـــــمل الأدبـــــاء من الروّاد والشـــــباب؛ فجائزة الشـــــيخ زايد للكتاب، والتـــــي ينظمها المركز، تضم ضمن فئاتها فئة الترجمة، وتشمل المؤلّفات المترجمة عن لغاتها الأصلية من اللغة العربية وإليها، بحيث تضيف كل ما هو جديد للمعرفة الإنســـــانية والتواصل الثقافي، إلى جانب مبادرة الترجمة، التي أطلقت بهدف المســـــاهمة في زيادة عدد الكتب العربية التي تُترجم وتُنشر وتُوزّع خارج المنطقة العربية.” وتابع:“تدعم المبادرة ترجمة الكتب الأدبية وكتب الأطفال الفائزة بجائزة الشـــــيخ زايـــــد للكتـــــاب، إضافة إلى عناوين القائمـــــة القصيرة، وكذلك جائزة كنز الجيل التي تضم في فئاتها فئة الترجمة، إسهامًا في نقل الشعر الشعبي والتراث الإماراتي إلى العالميـــــة، مـــــن خال دعم ترجمة الأعمال المتميزة إلى اللغات العالمية، بما يســـــهّل عملية التبادل الثقافي ويعزّز انتشار الشعر النبطي والفصيح عبر اللغات المعاصرة.” وأضاف ســـــعادته: “تهدف المبادرة إلى تعزيز مكانة اللغة العربية، وتوســـــيع قاعدة نشر التراث الثقافي العربي، وإتاحة المجال لتبادل المعرفة والخبرات الثقافية، بما

This is complemented by the Translation Initiative, launched to expand the translation, publication, and global distribution of Arabic books.” He continued: “The initiative supports the trans- lation of literary works and children’s books that have won the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, as well as shortlisted titles. It also ex- tends to the Kanz Al Jeel Award, which includes a Translation cat- egory, helping bring Nabati poetry and Emirati heritage to a glob- al audience, by supporting the translation of outstanding works into world languages. This, in turn, facilitates cultural exchange and broadens the reach of both Nabati and classical Arabic poetry across contemporary languages.” He added: “The initiative aims to strengthen the standing of the Arabic language, expand the reach of Arab cultural heritage, and open new avenues for the exchange of knowledge and cultural perspectives. It invites readers around the world to engage with outstanding works of Arabic literature, with a strong emphasis on the quality and precision of translation, ensuring these works are conveyed in their authenticity and diversity of voices. The ALC signed a cooperation agreement with “1001 Books” platform, during the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2025, aimed at promoting a culture of reading, enhancing Arabic cultural content and make it more accessible worldwide. [B-L-R] HE Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President, Amazon Middle East, Africa and Turkey and HE Dr Ali bin Tamim announced a landmark collaboration, unveiled at the Congress of Arabic and Creative Industries, to build the most comprehensive digital Arabic collection ever available on Amazon through the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre [ALC]. The ALC announced the Digital Arabic Library , a strategic partnership with audiobook and e-book publisher Arabookverse [ABV], during ALC’s participation in the 77 th Frankfurt Book Fair. It has also established a network of coop- eration agreements with universities and global institutions, alongside exchange programmes with leading translation centres worldwide. In parallel, the Centre places emphasis on selecting high-quality titles for translation - particularly award-winning books and those shortlisted at major international book fairs. Equally important is the selection of high- ly qualified translators, guided by a panel of reviewers recognised for their expertise across global cultural and academic circles.” He added: “The Kalima Project brings together more than 800 translators with expertise across a wide range of disciplines, and has trained 30 Emirati translators, offering them sustained support and mentorship. Over the years, these combined efforts have led to the translation of nearly 1,400 books across 10 fields of knowledge and 24 languages. A translation confer- ence held annually provides a platform to explore key issues and research papers in the field, while also engaging with translators’ perspectives and ideas. This is complemented by workshops and training programmes de- signed to help translators to navigate the challenges of their work.” He affirmed: “Support extends beyond translators alone to include writ- ers, both established and emerging. The Sheikh Zayed Book Award, or- ganised by the Centre, features a Translation category that recognises
