EMJ Construction - Technology Brochure

One of the most time-consuming and laborious tasks of a construction project is estimating quantities of materials. By extracting quantity takeoff information directly from the 3D model, EMJ’s estimating and pre-construction teams quickly back-check their quantities, resulting in highly accurate pricing information. Model-Based Quantity Analysis

ACTION

RESULT

CREATE EMJ obtains or creates a 3D model of the project with as much detail as needed by our pre-construction team depending on the project type. ANALYZE & INTERACT • Extract quantities • Organize data and group and sort in a way that is meaningful for viewer • View 3D model to see exactly where materials take place in the design • Track design and understand variances from last design submission

Once the project is uploaded, team members utilize exported spreadsheets with quantity information and 3D models of each part of the building. As objects are selected on the quantity takeoff spreadsheet, they are automatically highlighted on the 3D model so that the user can visualize exactly where objects are located in the design.

BENEFITS This method validates hand-takeoffs and increases accuracy, and overall project costs are kept in check. EMJ is able to analyze the project design faster and more accurately each time a new design iteration is received.
