Embry-Riddle’s Aviation English Department develops and delivers Aviation English programs that engage and motivate aviation professionals, improving their English language skills as well as their operational and safety awareness. Embry-Riddle Worldwide Aviation English programs align with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Language Proficiency Requirements and ICAO recommendations for content-based language teaching and are carefully designed by experts in applied linguistics to advance learners along the ICAO Language Proficiency Rating Scale. Our current Aviation English programs address the needs of student pilots and air traffic controllers. Embry-Riddle provides ab-initio trainees with the opportunity to develop the necessary English proficiency for flight and air traffic control training in an adaptable and online learning platform.
English for Flight Training (9-weeks) EFLT is an online, instructor-led, aviation English course designed to prepare ab- initio cadets for flight training.
English for Air Traffic Control (12-weeks) Controllers learn and practice English language skills while acquiring knowledge about topics such as Human Factors, Unusual and Emergency Situations, In-Flight Fire Emergenices and New ATC Technologies.
English for Flight Training Assessment (EFTA) A standardized online test to evaluate aviation English proficiency for flight training readiness.
