Skaters score success in Shawville
Photo Rockland Skating Club Rockland Skating Club members enjoyed a winning weekend in Shawville before Valentine’s Day. They tied for first place overall with Pembroke as the club with the most medals collected at the Shawville Invitational over the Feb. 12 weekend. Participating club members will showcase their winning techniques at the new Rockland Arena during the club’s annual end-of-season Ice Show on March 31 afternoon.

"Like every year, I'm going for first," Hottesaid,regardinghisgoalintheextreme sports competition. The mid-March event takes place in Québec City's Old Town area in front of the Château Frontenac. With four past Crashed Ice QC runs under his belt, Hotte has no worries about doing well. "Some of the guys may be good skaters on the flat surface," he said, "but when you get to the big jumps, it's a different thing. With my experience, I'm at ease with the big jumps, and I save my energy for when it really counts."
