IRELAND’S PLUMBING AND HEATING AWARDS 2021 SHOWCASED THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS… Burstingwith excellence

E very year, here at Ireland’s Plumbing & Heating Magazine, we are overwhelmed by the wealth of talent demonstrated in the entries for the Plumbing and Heating awards. This year was no exception, and we were delighted to see so many familiar individuals and companies enter, as well as first time entries from long-established companies and up-and-coming ones to the industry. This year they were presented by Irish sports presenter and commentator, Des Cahill. Recognising the achievements of the top products, contractors, projects, people and suppliers from across Ireland, our awards also celebrated apprentices starting out on their career paths, people at the very top of their game, companies who push the boundaries in innovation and individuals who have given a lifetime’s service to the industry. We would like to thank our headline sponsor, Calor, as well as our fantastic panel of independent judges, who had the difficult task of picking our 2021 winners in each of the 25 categories. Judges noted how the calibre of entries this year was excellent and how everyone who entered, whether winner, highly commended, or not, should be extremely proud of what they have achieved. We had a high quality of entries for our contractor awards and winners included, Heatvision, McGuinness Plumbing Ltd, Alternative

Heat and William Carroll of Clever Energy Solutions, who scooped Ireland’s Plumber of the Year. Meanwhile, the Product Awards recognised the innovation and performance of new products available in Ireland. Project categories exceeded judges’ expectations, with accolades presented to Murphy and Kelly Ltd, M&P Mechanical, Clash Plumbing and Heating Ltd and Alan Watters Heating and Plumbing Ltd. Commercial projects also demonstrated fantastic schemes from an apartment development in London to innovative work on a high-rise social housing scheme in Dublin. This year’s Supplier awards highlighted companies going above and beyond on customer service, training, product knowledge and sales. Companies that received recognition in these categories proved to the judging panel that they have clear business milestones in place, deeming them all worthy winners. People awards conveyed those individuals going the ‘extra mile’ in their roles by providing outstanding customer service, knowledge, and passion in their workplace or their community. We were thrilled to present Apprentice of the Year to Paraic Lennon from Murphy and Kelly Ltd, a dedicated individual with a high aptitude for plumbing. Other winners included David White from SONAS Bathrooms, who left a strong impression on our judges and Charlie O’Neill, who

picked up the Unsung Hero award. Special Recognition Award went to Dermot Usher for his outstanding performance and dedication to the plumbing industry, and a massive well done to Gerard Healy, Managing Director of Pipelife Ireland, who was placed as winner in the Overall Achievement Award. Finally, we would like to thank all our sponsors for making the virtual awards possible and eagerly look forward to returning to a traditional awards ceremony in 2022.
