WINNER: Overall Achievement Award GERARDHEALY - PIPELIFE IRELAND KINDLY SPONSORED BY: CALOR

T his award recognises an individual or company that has enhanced the plumbing and heating sector through their dedication and tireless hard work within the industry. The 2021 Overall Achievement award went to Gerard Healy, Managing Director of Pipelife Ireland. Gerard joined Quality Plastics, as it was named, back in 2004 as the Sales Manager before Pipelife acquired the company in 2007. He actively continued his role as Sales Manager before being appointed Managing Director in 2011. Over the last 10 years, Gerard oversaw many changes within the company, from navigating through the latter years of the recession, to the expansion of the company which included the upgrade of the production facilities and introduction of new high tech automated machinery. Earlier this year, Gerard led the acquisition of Cork Plastics and Flo Plastics in the UK, as Pipelife Ireland strengthened

its positioning within the Irish market. Pipelife now employs almost 3,000 people in 29 manufacturing facilities in 28 countries, including 60 employees in their Irish plant based in Cork. They have also successfully developed the Pipelife Eco Renewables Division, which has grown to become the leading designer and supplier of renewable heating solutions used in thousands of homes throughout Ireland and further afield, and all under the reign of Mr Gerard Healy. Commenting on the prestigious accolade at the virtual awards ceremony, Gerard commented that on a personal level he was very honoured to have received the award and that it reflected a team effort. “All of the team members both here in Ireland, and in the UK, have contributed to the success which the company is enjoying at the moment.” Speaking about the economic crash in 2008, Gerard reflected on how

companies, including Pipelife, had to adapt to new processes, systems and products, and that it had thankfully benefited them. With regards to environmental concerns, Pipelife has had to put in place a higher emphasis on these issues over recent years. He continued: “We are a company that installs heating systems throughout residential and commercial units, and these have historically been a cause of greenhouse gases. All of the products which we now manufacture are environmentally conscious, and we are making further changes going forward.” A remarkable success and a superb Overall Winner.
