AARON SENNER is a health science – pre-physical therapy major who looks forward to working as a physical therapist assistant upon graduating this May. He is an active volunteer for both the Portage County Humane Society and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association. Health Sciences and Wellness Faculty Excellence Scholarship This scholarship was made possible by generous donations from faculty and staff of the School of Health Sciences and Wellness. GRACE VAN HANDEL is a health science – pre-athletic training major and minoring in business administration. She is a member of the UWSP Sports Medicine Club student organization and has made the Dean’s List every semester while at UWSP. Grace competed for Pointers track and field team her freshman year. She hopes to attend graduate school for athletic training and work for a D1 football team. CHRISTOPHER BLACKMON is a health science – pre-occupational therapy major who is minoring in psychology. Upon graduating he plans to attend graduate school for occupational therapy and hopes to work in a public health setting. Christopher serves as a leader for UWSP’s Black Student Union and is a peer mentor for the LEAP Program that helps new students orient to campus life. He is involved in research involving the effects of peer mentoring for minority Dr. Robert Zach’s five sons created this scholarship in memory of their father. Three of the brothers were directly connected to UWSP – a professor in Chemistry, a physician with Health Services, and a member of Academic and Career Services. Zach M.D. Memorial Scholarship LEXI DUTTON is majoring in health science – pre-athletic training. She hopes to attend graduate school at UWSP for her master’s degree to become a licensed athletic trainer. Lexi received the Dean’s Distinguished Achievement Award in 2018 and is a member of the National Honor Society of Leadership and Success, Sigma Alpha Pi. Steven Blocher Memorial Athletic Training Scholarship Friends and family of Steven Blocher established this award when Steven tragically passed away in a boating accident the summer before his senior year. Steven excelled at tennis and was a civil engineering student that attended UWSP and then UW-Platteville. We remember Steven today with this award. DANE MOORE is finishing up his bachelor’s degree in health science – pre- athletic training. He will be starting his graduate degree with UWSP’s athletic training program this coming fall. Dane aspires to work for the advancement of concussion science. He is a member of the UWSP Sports Medicine Club student organization and has frequented the Dean’s List for his academic achievement. Judith Ann Herrold Athletic Training Professional Scholarship Dr. Judith Herrold dedicated 34 years of service at UWSP with her teaching, advising, faculty governance, mentoring of new faculty, and student advocacy. Her thoughtful scholarship continues to support athletic training students today.
