Like a turkey, but with more iron in its diet. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Rus- sell will be hosting a “Stuff a Cruiser” Food Drive on December 12. They’ll be accepting donations of non-perishable food items to stuff inside a police cruiser to try and fill it up to the sunroof. The event will take place in the parking lot of Parent’s Your Independent Grocer at 2737 Laurier Street in Rockland. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., members of the Russell County OPP will accepting donations of non-perishable items and stuffing them into a police cruiser. 8IFUIFS UIFDSVJTFSCVSTUTPSOPU BMM donations will be given to the Rockland Food Bank, which is part of the Rockland Help Centre d’aide.

Several residents are concerned that Clarence-Rockland council isn’t doing its due diligence regarding a planning issue involving a local business. Residents of Ramage Road and Dubois Street in Rockland are concerned that recent decisions regarding G&M Auto Sales hint at bias in the City of Clarence-Rockland council. The issue started in 2018, when G&M purchased a Rural Residential (RR) lot across the street from its dealership along County Road 17 and filed a request to rezone it as Commercial (CU). Clarence-Rockland’s Planning Department recommended the change be approved, but residents were concerned because there was no site plan, no description of the buildings to be erected, and no environmental study done on the impact to the watershed the property is on. A site plan and building description are not necessary for a zoning change application. Tooth loss is not the only problem. Much is said about keeping your own natural teeth healthy. If time comes that teeth need to be pulled out, most often there are underlying causes. Many people don’t realize that when you lose your teeth, the bone shrinks away. What does that mean when you need to replace the missing teeth? A few things are important to consider when teeth need to be replaced. There are only two options available: insert implants, if there is adequate bone to secure the implant, or a fitted partial or complete denture or a combination of both. Now here’s where the bone is important. If there is not enough bone, dentures will not work well and implant placement might be impossible. Severe bone loss and denture are a horrible outcome. Some patients already suffer from an important amount of bone loss from periodontal disease leaving the dentist with little bone left to work with after the teeth are removed. So what to do? I suggest contacting us to discuss your situation beforehand and plan out possibly a bone preservation therapy to keep whatever bone is left. If your family, friends or neighbours tell you that dentures are great, function well and they, themselves, have no problems, well take that with a grain of salt because your mouth is probably not the same. Get the true facts from a dental professional to discuss your situation.

DEUX VICTOIRES D’AFFILÉES POUR LES NATIONALS

Les Nationals de Rockland ont remporté deux victoires d’affilées au cours du wee- kend, défaisant les Raiders de Nepean par la marque de 6-3 vendredi, avant de battre les Hawks de Hawkesbury par la marque de 5-3 le surlendemain. Les Nats ont remporté une victoire convaincante contre les Raiders vendredi. Les Raiders avaient pris une avance de 2-1 en première période, mais les troupes de Rockland ont répliqué en inscrivant quatre buts sans riposte pour finalement l’emporter 6-3 contre les visiteurs. William Pilon a inscrit ses deux premiers buts de la saison dans la rencontre. Giovanni Morneau a inscrit deux buts et une passe, Justin Dauphinais et Alexandre Fréchette ont inscrit un but et une passe chacun et Isaac Landry a inscrit un but, alors que Manny Cabral, William Collins, John Mulvihill, Tucker Shields, Dylan Blue et Hugo Marcil ont récolté une passe chacun dans la victoire. Victoire contre les Hawks Les Hawks rendaient visite aux Nationals à Rockland pour un deuxième dimanche de suite, deux jours plus tard. L’intensité du jeu était élevée, mais les chances de marquer ont été peu nombreuses en première période. La meilleure chance de marquer du premier vingt est survenue à la toute fin de la période lorsque Justin Dauphinais des Nationals a fait dévier le tir de Patrick Larkin dans l’enclave, mais la rondelle a raté la cible de peu. Après une première période sans but, les Nats ont finalement brisé la glace quand Justin Dauphinais a décoché un tir précis de l’aile gauche pour déjouer Emile Savoie du côté de son bouclier, aidé par Patrick Larkin. Quelques minutes plus tard, Nick White en a rajouté pour l’équipe locale en battant le gardien des Hawks du même côté, aidé par

Les Hawks se sont à nouveau inscrits au pointage en troisième période quand Michael Andrews a inscrit son sixième but de la saison, aidé par Rylee Hlusiak et Josh Spratt, mais c’était trop peu trop tard pour
Tucker Shields et William Pilon. Rick Dorval a décidé de remplacer son gardien partant par Dimitri Pelekos pour réveiller ses troupes, mais les Nats sont revenus à la charge et Alexandre Fréchette a inscrit le troisième but des siens quelques secondes plus tard sur des passes d’Isaac Landry et de Manny Cabral. Le troisième but de Rockland a semblé réveiller les Hawks, qui se sont finalement inscrits au pointage quand Tyler Samodral a fait dévier le tir d’Antoine Dorion pour déjouer le gardien des Nats, Jack McGovern. Quelques minutes plus tard, Jakson Kirk a réussi à réduire l’écart à un but en faisant preuve de patience, pour déjouer McGovern sur un tir de pénalité. Mais l’équipe locale n’avait pas dit son dernier mot, et John Mulvihill a redonné une avance de deux buts à Rockland, deux minutes plus tard, aidé par Giovanni
les Hawks. Les visiteurs ont tout essayé pour revenir dans le match en enlevant leur gardien alors qu’il restait encore presque cinq minutes à écouler, mais les Nats ont survécu à l’assaut des Hawks en fin de période pour se sauver avec la victoire. Les Nationals occupent présentement le quatrième rang de la division Yzerman de la CCHL, à égalité avec les Colts de Cornwall, dix points derrière les Grads de Navan et six points devant les Raiders de Nepean.
