South Dakota State University has reached a milestone in outreach and connection. The SDSU Metro Center is the institution’s first permanent building to open its doors in the heart of Sioux Falls—the state’s largest economic hub. This new center comes after Avera Health gifted the space to the SDSU Alumni & Foundation, which turned it into an education center for nursing, pharmacy, respiratory care, medical laboratory science and public health programs complete with simulation and clinical rooms, labs and regular classrooms. Not only will the Metro Center offer advanced health care education, but it will also offer admissions services through its full-time, boots-on-the- ground admissions team, strengthening connections with Sioux Falls schools, community members and leaders. By expanding access to higher education and creating new opportunities for engagement, the center advances SDSU’s mission to serve the state with heart, purpose and lasting impact.
