THE

Symphony Hall! Choir on tour

CBSO On Monday 7 th February, the Abbey Junior Choir visited the Symphony Hall, Birmingham to watch a concert by the CBSO (City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra). The concert was based all around the theme: The Natural World. We travelled around the world through music, travelling to Africa, a beach and even the start of a river! We listened to a great piece of music, based on birdsong, we couldn’t believe how high some of the notes actually went. The piece was called The Firebird by Stravinsky; the whole orchestra gives a savage shout, and the demons start their dance. It’s quiet at first – sometimes that can be even more scary than something loud.

Thanks to Miss. Stocking for the story.

MASKS Reception have been very busy doing activities related to Lunar New Year and making tiger masks for their ‘Let’s Do It Day’ for their jungle topic. The children made tiger masks because it also linked to Chinese New Year which is the year of the tiger. They also enjoyed dancing to music following their own dragons or lions, making fans, collaging lanterns and practising some Chinese numbers.

Thanks to Mrs. Gould for the story.
