Specialized grief care for children

Pawsitive Pet Connect was launched this year to assist hospice patients with their pets because pets provide companionship and unconditional love that can be key to a patient’s quality of life. A team of trained volunteers is ready to assist patients by feeding and exercising their pet, delivering food and other pet items, and transporting animals to veterinary or grooming appointments, as needed or when requested. Pets can be critical to the well-being of patients

Losing a loved one is painful at any age. For children, it can be especially devastating with lifetime consequences. Through our comprehensive Children’s Bereavement Program, kids connect with their peers who have had a similar experience and share a common bond. Caregivers build a support network that helps them during difficult times, and schools have a resource for training and assistance with grieving students. Last year, 290 children and 42 adult caregivers participated in 1,282 grief counseling sessions .
