T he VRC Committee and administration would like to congratulate Pat Hyland on an outstanding career in racing. Firstly, as a jockey who was initially apprenticed to legend trainer, Jim Moloney and secondly, a trainer. Inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame in 2016, Pat is one of a rare group of jockeys to have won each of the Australian ‘big four’ Group 1 races. Namely, the VRC Melbourne Cup (1985 – What A Nuisance); STC Golden Slipper Stakes (1969 – Vain); MRC Caulfield Cup (1984 – Affinity) and MVRC W.S Cox Plate (1965 – Star Affair). He rode 25 Group One winners and 2,382 winners securing Group I victories in the VRC Derby (twice), Newmarket VRC WISHES PAT HYLAND A GRAND RETIREMENT
