By INEZ McGAHEY Plan now to attend the Alumni-Faculty banquet, honoring the 1960 Biola gradu ates, on June 10, 6:30 in the La Mirada dining room. Send reservations with $2.00 each to the Alumni Office by June 7. Join us in prayer for a time of wonderful fellowship, praise, and challenge. Mark the date and make your reservations early! Come with your friends and enjoy the blessings of the Lord, June 10. | | * * Mr. Deward Lowrey is the manager of the Biola Hotels, which is the official name of the two wings of the Bible Institute building in the downtown area. Although there are some students occupying dormi tory space, and although the School of Missionary Medicine yet remains there, much of the buildings is beings converted into hotel accommodations at low rates and are available to friends of Biola. Dr. and Mrs. Charles A. Roberts, Biola missionaries in Hong Kong, are planning retirement after these many years of serv ice. The Reverend Mr. Robert Phillips and his family will take up the work there. Following his Wheaton College gradua tion, he served for several years with Orient Crusades in Viet Nam. (Mrs. Roberts returned home the end of March.) Velma Pickett ’43, Juchitan, Oaxaca, Mexico: "Virginia Embrey ’43, my part ner here, fixed a special supper in honor of the sixteenth ‘anniversary’ of the day that Marjory and I first arrived in Juchi tan, which is the largest town of the Isthmus Zapotec area, with a population between twenty and thirty thousand. When we first arrived, there was no con tinuing witness; the two churches had services only in Spanish. Most of the peo ple were more Zapotec speaking. . . . Pray that the Scriptures in Zapotec trans lation may be read and obeyed. The books of John and Acts are being sold just now. On Sunday nights we teach John in Zapo tec for the Baptist group.” Ethel Berg ’45: “It hardly seems possi ble that I have been home from Japan for two months. . . . I plan to be here until the fall of this year.” Ruth (Charlton ’42) Uhlinger, Congo Beige, Africa: “When I returned in June I lent a hand to Katwa school teachers. . . . I am moving to Kabisi, where between school tours I shall help the Congo teachers and work with the present first grade, which we hope will be ready for government inspection in September, 1960.” Joan Collett ’51, Brazil: “In January I arived at Brazilian headquarters at 7:30 turning their morning prayer meeting in to praise. . . . January 16, at Sao Luis, seven young people received their diplo mas from M.B.I. On February 16, students will return for the opening of school.” Faith (Hollingsworth '21) and Don Turner, Quito, Ecuador: “A Foundation of Christian businessmen has prepared to establish a channel for the work of the Bible Institute of the Air. . . . Spain was among the top ten countries in letter re sponse for the month of October at HCJB.”
