4. Acts 16:14, 5. Rev. 5:9, 10. Count sides. Recite Isa. 40:8 and 2 Tim. 2:15. July 28 Blackboard: Write on the blackboard the verse: “And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee” (Psa. 9:10). Song— “The B-I-B-L-E.” Leader —(Call on some one toward the back to stand and read this verse from the board.) Each name of Deity means something, reveals to us God’s character. God taught His people to reverence His name. Where do we find this verse, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who taketh his name in vain” ? Answer —In Exodus 20, verse 7. It is the third commandment. Leader —David wrote what of His name? Someone read Psa. 111:9. Yes, holy and reverend is His name. Leader —In the Bible there are over three hundred names for the Lord Jesus. Let us think of some now. (Call on several. Comment briefly on each name, as “the seed of the woman”— the first promise of Him; Immanuel— “ God with us;” “The Way” — He is the Way for sinful man to the Holy God.) Leader —For next Sunday let us each choose one of these names to give with the reference, in our Bible Drill. I have already chosen a verse. (The leader will tell no one his choice until the next Drill.) (My choice— Matt, 1:21.) Leader —Ready for our references: 1. Ex. 20:7, 2. Psa. 113:3. 3. Matt. 6:9. 4. 2 Tim. 2:19. Count sides. Recite in unison Psa. 9:10.
July 21 B l a c k b o a r d : Write the wprds "Beauty of Holiness” on the upper part of the blackboard before the as sembly. Song— “The B-I-B-L-E.” Before Bible school opens, give out these three references, written on slips of paper: 1 Chron. 16:29; Psa. 29:2; Psa. 96:9. Ask the boys and girls to have the references ready to be read during Bible Drill. After a brief word of explanation from the leader, have these references read. The leader should always read over each refer ence before beginning the Bible Drill. Leader —Now let us name some peo ple who worshiped the Lord their God in “the beauty of holiness.” Leader —I am thinking of a man whose name starts with “N.” Answer —(Answers are found by the students asking questions about the man, e.g., Was he a king?) Leader —No, it is not Nebuchad nezzar. Answer —Was he a disciple of Jesus? Leader —No, it was not Nathanael. Answer— Was he a prophet? Leader —No, it was not Nathan. Answer —Did he build the ark? Leader —Yes, it is Noah. (As the Bible Drill references are read, the names of the worshipers will be placed on the board under the words “Beauty of Holiness.” After the Luke reference is read, the leader will mention the worship of Anna, will have a student read Luke 2:38, and will place Anna’s name under Simeon’s. At the close of the Drill, the names of Noah, Abednego, Simeon, Anna and Lydia will be on the board.) Leader —Ready for our references:
