THE KING’S BUSINESS

off his hands. Can you guess who it was that came into the prison and woke Peter up? Yes, it was an angel. The angel told Peter to put on his clothes and follow him. Peter was awakened so .suddenly that he thought at first he was dreaming. After a while they came to the big iron gate lead ing into the city, and this gate opened for them to pass through. After they were in the city the angel left Peter, and he knew the street, and he knew now that it was not a dream but that God had heard all the prayers for him, and had sent an angel down and brought him safely out of the prison. Then Peter went right to the hduse o f his friends, where they had been praying for him. Peter told them all about the angel bringing him out o f the, prison, and the soldiers who were watching never woke up, and how the doors and gates all opened and let them out. These people were all very happy to know God had heard their prayers. God who heard and answered their prayers is the same Jesus we love, and He will hear us when we pray if we love Him and do the things He has asked us to do. You see God is stronger than prisons, and iron chains, and wicked kings and soldiers. Memory verse. . Closing prayer .—Let us bow our heads' and thank God for such a loving Saviour that will hear His children when fhey pray to Him. N. B.—Note approach on next Sunday’s lesson. The question must be put today.

and locked him up in a dark prison, and put a chain around each hand and fastened him to a soldier on each side of Peter, and put some more soldiers around the door to watch, so you see he wanted to be sure that Peter would never get out again. After Peter was put in the prison he prayed to God,, that is he just told God all about the chains on his'hands, and told Him every thing. ; O f course God. knows everything that happens do any o f His children, but He wants to see if we love Him enough to tell Him about our troubles and He wants us to tell Him about our joys, too. That is just what praying means, to talk to God. Then Peter’s friends who belonged to the same church with Peter, were praying to God about their dear friend Peter. One night after Peter had been in prison for some time, some o f these friends gathered at one o f the homes to pray all night for Peter, because the wicked king was going to send his soldiers down to the prison the next morning and take Peter out and kill him. Do you think Peter was scared that night? No, not the least bit, for our story tells us that he went to sleep between the two soldiers, for he knew, God knew all about what the wicked king was going to do, and Peter belonged to God. In the mid dle o f the night when it was very dark and Peter was sound asleep, something won derful happened in that prison. A bright light shone in the prison, somebody touched Peter on the side, and told him to get up quickly, and as he got up those chains fell
