From the Editors: Dear Readers of our quarterly Stone Soup and Catalogue. We are pleased to include in this catalogue an exciting assortment of programs, classes, and workshops for children, adults, and families. Many of the classes are offered by Independent Contractors who are responsible for the content as well as the fees for the classes. Please contact them directly for information on registering for these programs.

VAST The Community Center’s award-winning Valley After School Tutor- ing (VAST) program offers affordable, one-on-one tutoring and group homework clubs to local students. We have skilled tutors across all subjects and grade levels (K-8th). Whether your student needs specif- ic support or just a quiet and encouraging environment to complete their homework, VAST has what they need! Many students attend Zoila’s or the LOFT and include a VAST tutoring session as part of their day. Staff will remind students of their session and will walk younger students to the VAST Room, located on the lower campus in Room 6. Students are placed on a first come, first served basis. Students’ Once your VAST request form is received we will begin to look at the tutor schedules and coordinate scheduling with you. You will receive an email con- firmation with the scheduled day(s)/time(s) once they are set. - $25 per session for LOFT/Zoila’s students - $30 per week for non *Invoiced at the end of each month -Homework Club - 10 pack drop-ins: $100 DAYS/TIMES: (M, T, TH), 1 hour sessions between 3 - 5pm (W), 2 - 5pm LOCATION: Lower Campus, Room 6 CONTACT: Lori Ramirez, lramirez@sgvcc.org names will be added to our list and we will do our best to place each student with a tutor in a timely manner. RAINBOW PLAYGROUP Located in the East Room at the San Geronimo Valley Community Center, Rainbow Playgroup is designed for caretakers, mothers, grandmothers, fathers, grandfathers and friends to have a safe place for their little ones (ages 0-5) to play and socialize. This FREE play- group happens from 9:30 am- 12:00 pm on Tuesdays, and Fridays. On Tuesdays from 10 am - 11:15 am, Rainbow Playgroup is visited by the Marin County Free Library Learning Bus, which offers bilingual stories and activities. KUNG FU Kung Fu Animal Power™ Leadership Training for Kids will help your kids grow up into responsible, athletic adults capable of defend- ing themselves. These classes are a fun way to get exercise, build a healthy, coordinated body, understand good character, and build confidence by learning self defense. Kids 7/8 and above will also learn Northern Shaolin, the most dynam- ic and awesome style of Kung Fu there is. It’s fun! In the second part of class your child will learn Earth Dragon Staff. Earth Dragon Staff is a beautiful, rare and famous staff routine full of exciting and varied staff moves. Kids love this part of class! Students also learn the Staff versus Staff Form, clacking their staves together loudly and having a great time. Advanced kids learn more advanced weapons.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS FOR KIDS THE LOFT

The LOFT located above the Lagunitas Community Gym offers a seamless transition from in-school time to after school time for 4th through 8th graders, and serves as a stop over for many students who participate in after-school sports or extracurriculars. The LOFT is an awesome place to hang and students love it - with crafts, games, sports, and more, what’s not to love!? Our staff make use of the Community Gym and the surrounding outdoor space to cre- ate an experience for students that is far beyond childcare, while also prioritizing safety and supervision. Healthy snacks are provided every day. Following the Lagunitas School District calendar. YOUTH JOB TRAINING PROGRAM The San Geronimo Valley Community Center’s Youth Job Training Program gives participants hands-on experience working in a com- munity setting. Our year-round program has sessions beginning in Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring each year. We offer continuing op- portunities for youth to engage in new learning environments. Middle School and High School students are eligible to apply for Internship A (20 hours/volunteer) or Internship B (20 hours/paid stipend of $200 for 6th-8th & $300 for 9th & up) if you have previously completed Intern- ship A.
