Zvuk trube u ovom delu Srbije tradicionalno pra- ti svaki veći događaj, od proslave ro- đenja, krštenja i venčanja do poro- dičnih slava.

that the town has become famous the world over. The official flag of Guča’s Dragačevski Sabor has even been fly- ing above the world’s highest peak, on Mount Everest, since the year 2000 – when it was proudly placed there by Dragačevo local Dragan Jaćimović, from the village of Puhovo. The trumpet first became part of the local culture and tradition back in 1831, when Prince Miloš Obrenović ordered the forming of the first military trum- pet orchestra. Every major event in this part of Serbia is traditionally accompa- nied by the sound of trumpets – from birth celebrations and christenings, to weddings and family celebrations. The first Dragačevo assembly of trum- peters was held on 16 th October 1961, on the grounds of St. Archangel Ga- briel Church, and exclusively includ- ed the participation of orchestras from Dragačevo. This instrument’s most fa- mous contemporary virtuosos – Dejan Lazarević, Dejan Petrović, Boban and Marko Marković, Elvis Ajdinović, Ekrem Mamutović, Veljko Ostojić and others – together with their orchestras, today raise the level and quality of perfor- mances year on year. This year will again see trumpet maes- tros from all over Serbia compete for the prestigious Golden Trumpet award. Guča is waiting for you to expe- rience it with every fibre of your being, and it is one festival that you’ll certain- ly never forget.
GUČA (5 TH -7 TH AUGUST, SERBIA) Each August sees the small, sleepy town of Guča transformed into a ven- ue for a massive party. The air is filled with the sounds of trumpets and the aroma of barbeques, while the streets are packed with spirited visi- tors from all over the world. Following the performing of the opening song – Sa Ovčara i Kablara [From Ovčar and Kablar] – in front of the monument to the trumpeter in the centre of Guča, brass bands wander the streets play- ing their songs and inviting people to party ‘til dawn. The Serbian trumpet echoes around the whole world from the renowned Dragačevo Assembly, which has end- ed up becoming one of the most at- tractive events in Serbia. As the world’s largest competitive gather- ing of trumpeters that has been held since 1961, on the one hand, and, on the other, as a unique opportunity to spend multiple days continuously per- forming, dancing, singing and enjoy- ing traditional flavours, folk dances and much more. Hundreds of thousands of visitors flock to Western Serbia every August, and it is thanks to this festival
