ESC19 HEAD START IS AN EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT AND PRESCHOOL PROGRAM THAT PROUDLY SERVES THE EL PASO AND HUDSPETH COMMUNITIES. ESC19 IS ONE OF TWENTY REGIONAL SERVICE CENTERS LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE STATE THAT FUNCTION AS A LINK BETWEEN THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND CHARTER SCHOOLS THEY SERVE AND THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY (TEA) IN AUSTIN, THE ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT OF TEXAS’ PUBLIC EDUCATION. ESC19 IS THE GRANTEE AGENCY FOR THE EL PASO HEAD START PROGRAM. HEAD START PROGRAMS ARE OPERATED BY NEARLY 2,695 GRANTEES AND DELEGATES WHICH INCLUDE PUBLIC, PRIVATE, AND FAITH -BASED ORGANIZATIONS IN COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT OUR NATION. THE ESC19 HEAD START ANNUAL REPORT IS PUBLISHED ONCE EVERY FISCAL YEAR AS DIRECTED BY THE IMPROVING HEAD START FOR SCHOOL READINESS ACT OF 2007. Dear Parents,
Thank you for choosing the Head Start Program! As Head Start Director, I am pleased to welcome you to another exciting school year! Whether your little one is just starting out in our program, or is a returning student, we are overjoyed to have you as part of our Head Start family! As many of you know, I began my journey in this wonderful program as a Head Start parent, volunteering in my children’s pre-K classroom, and I can say from personal experience that Region 19 Head Start is the nation’s premier Head Start program for children and parents! We know that Head Start prepares children to become school ready, ensuring their healthily, emotional, and social development so that they can become confident, lifelong learners. But did you also know that our program provides many opportunities for parents to help parents achieve your career, education, family, and personal goals so that you can become strong, successful leaders in your family? Head Start’s parental leadership and development programs and community partnerships helped me achieve my goals as a Head Start parent and led to the position I hold today - a Head Start leader and advocate! I invite you to please take advantage of all the empowering parental programs and opportunities listed in this handbook, to begin or continue your own journey to success!
