The primary goal is to prevent accidents and to identify work-related hazards as well as dangerous situations. Actions such as employee training, improvements to protec- tive clothing and machine maintenance are being implemented to continuously increa- se workplace safety. Accident prevention and the protection of employee health are discussed in formal employee protection committees, which meet on a regular basis. In addition, workers’ representatives, such as works councils, are involved in occu- pational safety issues at many production sites. Employees can submit suggestions for improvements at any time, which are then reviewed and implemented as necessary.
Targets are also set and monitored, and experience is gathered and actions already implemented to protect, maintain, promote or restore the health and work ability of the Group’s own workforce are shared. As part of efforts to raise awareness of occupational health & safety, a training video was produ- ced in the 2025/26 financial year, which is permanently available to the entire workfor- ce on the Group’s intranet.
Safety actions and protection of employees
All workstations are safely and professio- nally designed on the basis of workplace evaluations. Any potential hazards, stress and negative impacts in the workflow are assessed and minimised based on the STOP principle. Personal protective equipment provided on an ongoing basis and regular training ensure that employees can safely carry out their work despite the remaining potential risks and stress. Workplace evaluations are reviewed annual- ly to take account of changes in the working environment. Workplaces are also reasses- sed and modified in the case of work-re- lated accidents, work-related illnesses, new machinery or other new work equipment, changes in legal requirements, employee feedback, or findings regarding occupatio- nal health and safety risks. Local, internal and external officers review the binding commitments to environmental, health and occupational safety issues made at all production sites. Internal compliance audits are also conducted at all ISO-certified sites.
Monthly safety review meeting
All employees receive regular training on occupational safety aspects relating to machinery, workstations and activities and also receive work-specific safety training for their job and work performed on systems and machinery. The internal communication network provides guidelines, processes and procedures as well as all important docu- ments on occupational safety and health protection. Monthly safety review meetings are also held with the production plants. These safety review meetings are convened by the COO and are attended by all plant managers and all plant safety officers for the respective plants. Metrics for the sites, work-related accidents and near misses are explained at the meetings, information on the resulting improvement actions is shared and ideas for further improvements are communicated.
