OWN WORKFORCE
This service was launched for the first time in the 2024/25 financial year and will be continued on an annual basis. The key focus ‘Leadership and Health’ covers topics such as the duty of care, self- care and communication skills, and has been an integral part of the compulsory ‘Leaders Base’ training programme for all manage- ment positions since the 2025/26 financial year. The Zumtobel Group provides employees with a structured reintegration approach after extended periods of sick leave. This process ensures that employees return to work with due consideration given to health-related aspects, such as limiting daily working hours or reducing their workload. This action, which has been in place since 2016, is a continuous process with no defined end date. At the site level, the Zumtobel Group offers a variety of specific measures tailored to the needs of the workforce, such as local sports activities to promote physical activity and reduce stress. Preventive inspections are conducted at the production sites during which occupational safety experts and safety officers identify risks and promote a healthy work environment. These inspecti- ons are repeated each year at the Zumtobel Group.
The Zumtobel Group employs a wide variety of communication channels and tools to continuously improve and maintain emp- loyee awareness. These include the newly installed digital boards on the shop floor, as well as the Group’s own mascot, Lighti, who regularly features in flyers or videos to explain HSE-related topics to staff through non-verbal communication. However, these communication tools do not replace the informal, in-person interactions between employees and their supervisors, which take place on a regular basis.
Health actions
A key component of this initiative is the collection of information on requirements on a regular basis in the form of analyses such as surveys, inspections or workshops, which help the Group to identify specific health challenges and needs within its own workforce. Appropriate actions are devised and rolled out on the basis of the findings. In addition, regular health promotion meetings are held to help employees improve their in- dividual working conditions and address any concerns. Tips on improving ergonomics and on taking breaks to move around can be found in short instructional videos on Light- Link. These videos aim to encourage the Group’s own workforce to be active during the day. This action was first launched in the 2023/24 financial year, and the videos will continue to be available in the coming years.
Effectiveness of health and safety actions
Wellbeing Calendar
The effectiveness of the Zumtobel Group’s health and safety actions is monitored using various metrics, with priority given to the rates of absences and accidents at work. These metrics are tracked on a global scale to allow the Zumtobel Group to assess the impacts of its employee safety actions and health initiatives at all certified production sites.
The Zumtobel Group offers a Wellbeing Ca- lendar with a specific focus each month to promote physical and mental health. Exam- ples include stress management seminars for management on effectively managing teams in challenging times and creating a supportive, resilient work environment.
